At a White House meeting early last fall with Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar and advisor Jared Kushner, Donald Trump was furious. Dr. Azar was attempting to convince the President of the effectiveness of a national mask mandate and how COVID-19 would ravage the country in the coming months. Kushner attempted to convince the President of the imminent need for more testing. However, Trump seemed to be more concerned with the optics of his reelection campaign, and not being one to mince words said flatly to Kushner,

“I’m going to lose. And its going to be your fault…

When I was given the chance to work for a right-leaning organization that elects local candidates to state Legislatures across the country, I looked at it just like any other job opportunity. This was a real chance to learn.

A few weeks ago, I had a conversation with my dad about the upcoming election in November. He told me that as an Indian-American living in this country, you are either part of President Trump’s fiercest group of minority supporters, or you harbor a burning hatred for him. My father belongs to the latter group.

He hates the President passionately, both because of his policy and personality and firmly believes that everyone should vote for Biden. He actually supported Senator Bernie Sanders in the primary, as I did. While the Sanders loss was disappointing, we were quickly told the same…
